Sébastien Ogier on the way to retraining? If he still has his head rally and the final which awaits him at Monza (November 18-21), the Gapençais has never hidden his love forEndurance and especially on 24 Hours of Le Mans.
As he prepares to retire full-time from WRC, the seven-time world champion was invited to take part in the Rookie Test of WEC this Sunday. On site, Sébastien Ogier was able to get behind the wheel of the GR010 of Toyota of which he is the main representative in Rallying. Present aboard the No. 8, the Gapençais took part in the day's two sessions, first posting a 1'50"647 before completing this adventure with a 1'51"189 for a total of 84 laps completed.
« It was very exciting to drive the GR010 Hybrid and I really enjoyed the moment in the car, he admitted after his first experience with the Japanese prototype. I didn't put any pressure on myself in terms of results because there are so many new parameters for me. I had to get used to the speed in the corners, the braking, the way the car turns and the hybrid system, which is something special. It's a different mindset to do one lap and try to do better the next one, compared to rallying where every corner is unique. Thanks to Toyota for this special opportunity to experience endurance racing »

LMP2 champion with WRT at the end of a season where he won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in his category, Charles Milesi was also invited to try the GR010. Only present with Toyota for the morning session, the Frenchman ranked 4th with a time of 1'49"636, just over 9 tenths behind Nicolas lapierre, author of the best time with the A521Alpine.
« Getting behind the wheel of the GR010 Hybrid for the first time was very special for me, every Endurance driver dreams of driving a car like this, underlined Charles Milesi after his session. I'm happy with the work I did. At the beginning, I had to adapt to the braking which is different from my LMP2, but the team helped me to progress. The high-speed cornering grip and power of the car was new to me and very impressive. I got used to it pretty quickly and I'm happy with the work I did. So it was a good day and when you drive a car like this you just want more."
