Thursday evening, theAutomobile Club de l'Ouest unveiled the official film of 24 Hours of Le Mans 2017, where Porsche won another victory while Toyota experienced a new disillusionment.

If the German brand has withdrawn from the WEC to turn towards the Formula e, Toyota will try to score its first success in the event in 2018 within the Super-Season.

It remains to be seen what form Toyota Gazoo Racing's entry into the Le Mans double clock will take. And Pascal Vasselon, technical director of the team, gave the beginning of a clue during the evening of Thursday.

« Presumably two cars should be entered in the 24 2018 Hours of Le Mans. It's almost 90% certain », admitted Vasselon, which would confirm what we are telling you this week in AUTOhebdo. Toyota is also aiming for a multi-year commitment to the event.

“We have a contract with the ACO and we are inventing the most extraordinary way not to win the race! However, we intend not to honor this agreement next year. » joked Pascal Vasselon, recalling the last two editions which did not turn out in favor of Toyota.

The Frenchman also admitted that “nothing was decided” at the pilot level. Remember that on the occasion of the Rookie Tests in Bahrain, Fernando Alonso tested the TS050 Hybrid. The Spaniard aims to be at the start of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2018.
