Peugeot lifts the veil on the 90X

Peugeot Sport has chosen to reveal, this Saturday, the first photos of the 90X on the track. One week before the last race of the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP in Zhuhai, the car that will succeed it is revealed. “ We had set the objective of rolling before the end of the year. We are satisfied to have achieved it. The road is now very long and we still have a lot of work to be ready in 2011 », Explains Olivier Quesnel, director of Peugeot Sport.

Displaying a similar livery, the 2011 prototype has a family resemblance with the current car but some differences are notable. Adapted to the 2011 ACO regulations, the 90X has a “shark fin” on the rear hood, allowing it to be adapted to the XNUMX ACO regulations. “ prevent the car from taking off in the event of a spin at high speed ».

If the design of the front of the car seems to have changed little, an imposing air intake appears behind the passenger compartment, and the rear air intakes have been reduced. However, while the 2011 season is still far away, technical choices remain to be made, particularly in terms of the engine.

« In terms of engine and technology chosen, several options are still being explored, confirms Bruno Famin, technical director. We are still working on engine development. Endurance races are a real laboratory allowing all of the Brand's technologies to be highlighted. »

Peugeot, which presented at the end of 2006 a Peugeot 908 very different from the one which had entered competition a few months later, thus presents the outline of its carEndurance which will begin in 2011. By then, the 908 HDi FAP will have ended its career with the third race of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup 2010, in Zhuhai, next weekend.
