Peugeot returns to the WEC from 2022, at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2023

Peugeot returns to the WEC from 2022, at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2023

Many times announced, the return of an official sports program Peugeot en Endurance was made official on Wednesday November 13 at the beginning of the afternoon. The Lion brand will find the WEC, a category that she had hastily left a few days before the start of the 2012 season for budgetary reasons.

 

Since then, water has flowed under the bridges and the Executive Committee of the PSA Group has given the agreement to PSA Motorsport to relaunch the Endurance program from 2022. Peugeot Sport will therefore participate as soon as possible in the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2023, the WEC season now begins in summer.

More information concerning in particular the on-board technology and the structure of the commitment will be given from the beginning of 2020. It is already certain that the French prototype will follow the Hypercar regulations, and will recall the stylistic codes of production vehicles.

More than ever, the signature of the Peugeot brand -Motion and E-motion- resonates with these initiatives. »

Peugeot Sport has three successes in the Sarthe classic, acquired with two models: the 905 V10 in 1992 (Mark Blundell, Yannick Dalmas and Derek Warwick) and in 1993 (Christophe Bouchut, Geoff Brabham and Eric Hélary), then the 908 HDI in 2009 with David Brabham, Marc Gené and Alexander Wurz.
