Last year, Porsche had a near-perfect season. With its 963, the Stuttgart firm has practically swept the board in Endurance, whether in WEC (Pilots title) or in IMSA (Drivers, Constructors, Teams titles)… with one exception. The German manufacturer failed in the quest for the Constructors title in 2024, losing its duel against Toyota in the last race, in Bahrain. A small blemish in a record that remains impressive nonetheless. Nevertheless, Porsche's appetite has not been sated by this harvest of titles in 2024, and the German team hopes to fill the small void of last season by aiming for the double.

“After winning the Drivers’ title last year, our goal is now to win the biggest trophy in the Constructors’ category as well, poster Thomas Laudenbach, Vice President of Porsche Motorsport. In IMSA, we have already shown our ambitions with a second consecutive victory at Daytona. We now want to make an optimal start in WEC and repeat our triumph in Qatar. We will not let up in our efforts. The Porsche 963 is intended to continue the legacy of legendary endurance racing prototypes such as the 917, 935, 956, 962 and 919 Hybrid. These icons from Weissach have left their mark on endurance racing for years. We intend to do the same with our current prototype."

Indeed, Porsche's 2025 season has started off with a bang, as in 2024, with a new victory at the 24 Hours of Daytona in IMSA. With a rationalization of its crews and small adjustments made to the 963, the German team believes that all the ingredients are there to make a title sweep in 2025. Kevin Estre and Laurens Vanthoor, accompanied this season by Matt Campbell on certain rounds, will set off to defend their Drivers' titles.

« With another victory at the 24 Hours of Daytona, we have started the new season in North America perfectly. We now want to continue this momentum at the global level, summarizes Urs Kuratle, director of the LMDh program. Despite our successes last year, we have continued to refine all aspects, from the operational team to the drivers, to the Porsche 963 itself. We are entering an even more competitive and well-prepared Hypercar category. The Qatar circuit suited us well last year, and I see no reason why that should change this season.

In WEC, the season begins with the traditional Prologue, held this year again on the Losail circuit in Qatar. Porsche, winner of the 1812km of Qatar in 2024, returns to a circuit that matches the characteristics of the 963. “During the Prologue in Qatar, our team will fine-tune its final preparations in order to start the season in style, explains Jonathan Diuguid, general manager of Porsche Penske Motorsport. Porsche started 2025 with another victory at the 24 Hours of Daytona and hopes to repeat its performance in Qatar. The team has made some small changes to its driver line-up for the new season, and we have good continuity within the rest of the team to build on our performance from the 2024 season.
