Porsche concluded a test session of more than 8000km

While Porsche will aim for an 18th victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans On June 1 and 18, the German manufacturer carried out a four-day test session at Motorland Aragon (Spain) with its 919 Hybrid.

Porsche has requested the services of its regular drivers Timo Bernard, Earl Bamber, Brendon Hartley, Neel Jani, André Lotterer, Nick Tandy as well as the reserve Marc Lieb, winner of the last edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and reigning champion of the WEC.

The team notably carried out an endurance simulation spread over 6689km (5233km covered at the 24 hours of Le Mans by the victorious car last year). The 919 Hybrid covered a total of 8581km after four days of testing.

Porsche said that the test session was also an opportunity to focus on the performance of the 919 Hybrid. The two German LMP1s will face three Toyota TS050 Hybrid at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, but the absence of Audi will turn the fight into a duel.

The 919 Hybrids have been running with the “low drag” aero kit since the start of the season, while Toyota used its high downforce kit during the first two rounds at Silverstone and Spa. If Porsche showed promising performances in Great Britain, the 919 Hybrids were a little further behind in the Belgian Ardennes.

Porsche will resume its preparation on June 4 for the Test Day of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
