Porsche confident despite problems with the No. 2 in testing

Si Porsche intends to return to victory at the 6 Hours of Shanghai where it won last year, as shown by the best time set during FP2 by Brendon Hartley on the No. 919 1 Hybrid, the German team's day was nevertheless disrupted by problems encountered on the No. 2 of Dumas-Lieb-Jani which is fighting for the title.

“Our times were competitive, whether on a flying lap or on the long relays. Unfortunately, we lost an hour of driving on #2 in the first session., regretted Team Principal Andreas Seidl. We had to change the battery since all the parameters of the first one did not match what was expected. This loss of time is clearly a disadvantage for our three drivers who were not satisfied with the settings. »

“Even in the second session I found the grip to be relatively low, explained Marc Lieb. The tires have a real performance peak here. In other words, new rubbers quickly become worn out. »

Porsche is nevertheless satisfied to see the No. 919 1 Hybrid finish first in both test sessions.

“We had a slight problem which cost us 15 minutes, but apart from that we were able to take advantage of the tests to refine the settings, confirmed Timo Bernhard, the New Zealander's teammate. We have a better understanding of tires. The track has progressed even if it remains very dirty. »

The third practice session will be held tomorrow from 2 a.m. (French time).
