Porsche confirms Lotterer, Tandy and Bamber in LM P1

CARhebdo vous en avant-première l’annonçait dans son n°2088, l’arrivée d’André Lotterer chez Porsche en provenance du Audi Sport Team Joest était en vue pour la saison 2017 du Championnat du Monde d’Endurance.

The German brand took advantage of its Night of Champions in Stuttgart, Germany, to confirm this important recruitment. The German driver, three times winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and FIA world champion WEC 2012 with his accomplices Marcel Fässler and Benoît Tréluyer, will drive the 919 Hybrid alongside Neel Jani and Nick Tandy.

Tandy is the other “rookie” for Porsche with New Zealander Earl Bamber. Having competed in GT for two seasons, the winners of the 24 2015 Hours of Le Mans with Nico Hulkenberg are thus promoted after the ouster of the LM P1 program of Romain Dumas and Marc Lieb.

Earl Bamber will replace Mark Webber, who announced his retirement during the season, in the second LM P1 with Brendon Hartley and Timo Bernhard. The new 919 will be presented at the 2017 Prologue in Monza, Italy, on March 23.
