A few minutes after details from the ACO and IMSA regarding the technical regulations of the LMDh, Porsche Motorsport has confirmed its interest in the future category which will be able to fight for victory in the general classification in WEC and in the American championship.
“The ACO and theIMSA met our expectations, commented Fritz Enzinger, Vice President of Porsche Motorsport. It will be possible to race for overall victory with a single car in the biggest endurance races. We are now starting our concept study commissioned by our management committee. »
The LMDh will be based on a common base based on one of the four eligible chassis in LMP2, but manufacturers will be able to install their bodywork, engine and a common hybrid system in order to manufacture a car representative of the brand. The LMDh will have a power of 680hp to which will be added 70hp with the hybrid system, for a weight of 1030kg. A Balance of Performance will be set up in WEC to balance performance with LMH.
Porsche has not raced at the highest level in the WEC since 2017 when the manufacturer entered its 919 Hybrid.
