Victory at the 6h of the Circuit of the Americas seemed promised to Audi, but Porsche took advantage of a series of bad luck from the R18s to win with the 919 Hybrid of Webber-Hartley-Bernhard.

Porsche benefits from Audi's woes

La Porsche 919 Hybrid n°1 Brendon Hartley, Timo Bernhard and Mark Webber signed their third consecutive victory by winning the 6 Hours of the Circuit of the Americas contested in the evening against Audi who seemed well on their way to winning.

The reigning world champion crew won with a lead of 23 seconds over the #8 Audi of Di Grassi-Duval-Jarvis who had bad luck. Oliver Jarvis first lost almost a minute following an electrical problem while Lucas di Grassi had to make an unscheduled stop due to a poorly closed door. The 919 Hybrid also benefited from a Full Course Yellow for refueling.

Toyota a complété le podium avec la TS050 Hybrid n°6 de Sarrazin-Conway-Kobayashi which finished two seconds behind the R18 in front of the second Porsche of Championship leaders Dumas-Lieb-Jani. Toyota No. 5 Buemi-Davidson-Nakajima took fifth place after encountering turbo problems.

Alpine achieved overwhelming success in LMP2 with first place taken by Menezes-Stone-Richelmi on the No. 460 A36 who finished one lap ahead of the RGR Sport by Morand Ligier JS P2 of Gonzalez-Albuquerque-Senna and who further increased their lead in the Championship. The G-Drive Racing Oreca 05 of Rast-Brundle-Rusinov completed the top three in the category after losing time with yellow flags.

Aston Martin achieves its second success in a row in GTE Pro with the #95 Vantage of Thiim-Sorensen which dominated the Ferrari from AF Corse. Bruni-Calado's No. 488 F51 took second place, finishing 11 seconds behind the winners while Rigon-Bird's sister car finished one lap behind. The British manufacturer also won in GTE Am with the #98 of Dalla Lana-Lamy-Lauda.
