Outpaced by Audi during the first free practice session of the 6 Hours of Mexico, Porsche returned to the top of the rankings during the second. The No. 919 2 Hybrid of Dumas-Jani-Lieb completed a lap of the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in 1'25"810 and beat its sister car by 0"248. At 0”710 from the reference mark, we find the R18 n°8 of Di Grassi-Duval-Jarvis. Followed by the R18 n°7 of Fässler-Lotterer-Tréluyer and the Toyota TS050 n°5 of Buemi-Davidson-Nakajima. But the Japanese show a deficit of 0.

At home, RGR Sport distinguished itself in LM P2, setting the best time in 1'35"507. The Albuquerque-Gonzalez-B trio. Senna preceded two Oreca 05s, namely those of G-Drive Racing and Manor.

Although supposed to be penalized by the altitude because they have an atmospheric engine, the Aston Martin Vantage continue to dominate the GTE Pro, with a slight advantage for the No. 95 of Sorensen-Thiim. The top three is completed by the Ferrari 488 n°51. The first Ford GT, the No. 66 from Mücke-Pla, lost three tenths to the leading Aston Martin.

In GTE Am, the top three is similar to that of the first session, namely the Gulf Racing Porsche 911 RSR in the lead ahead of that of Abu Dhabi-Proton Racing and the No. 98 Aston Martin.
