Porsche a terminé la première journée d’essais des 6 Heures de Mexico avec le temps référence réalisé par Neel Jani, auteur d’un tour de l’Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez en 1’25’’810 réalisé sur la 919 Hybrid n°2 qui a devancé de deux dixièmes la voiture soeur de Bernhard-Webber-Hartley et de quatre dixièmes l’Audi R18 n°6 de Di Grassi-Duval-Jarvis.
“We have an intense testing program testing a wide variety of car and engine settings, explained the Swiss. For now, things are going well. The team did a very good job preparing for the race and that explains this good start. The track is pretty but it is very small and the traffic will be difficult to manage on Saturday. »
“The circuit offers some difficulties, confirmed Brendon Hartley. It looks a lot like a street circuit with all the elements that are close… Downforce and aero drag are very affected by altitude and their level is much lower compared to what we are used to. I also felt less comfortable driving due to the lack of oxygen. The times are very tight and that promises a great race. »
The situation may still change since the weather could change in Mexico. “The forecast is for a high chance of rain for Saturday's race, which would add further difficulty”, warned Team Principal Andreas Seidl.
