Porsche expects a different scenario

Solid winner at home at the Nürburgring at the end of August, Porsche does not expect to experience the same domination this weekend in Austin, Texas, for the fifth round of the 2015 WEC.

Porsche expects a different scenario

The 6 Hours of the Circuit of the Americas, contested in Austin, Texas this weekend, will mark the shift in the second half of the World ChampionshipEndurance 2015. Winner at 24 Hours of Le Mans, then at the Nürburgring, the brand Porsche will present itself in a strong position on the other side of the Atlantic in the Manufacturers' ranking.

However, German leaders believe that the American event should not see the 919 Hybrids dominate in the same way as during the last round contested at the end of August, where the Webber-Bernhard-Hartley trio was ahead of the Dumas-Jani- Lieb for a double at home.

“Last year’s race at COTA proved to be extremely difficult for us, recalls Fritz Enzinger, LM P1 vice-president. We now hope to be able to fight for victory, but we don't expect the dominance we saw at the Nürburgring.

The next races in Austin, Fuji, Shanghai and Bahrain are decisive for the title. Porsche is focused on the Manufacturers' title, but the drivers' decision will be just as exciting. With only 17 and 19 points separating us from the top three Audi, our two crews are within firing range. »

Last year, the 919 Hybrids were not able to shine in the United States, the No. 20 making a mistake under the Texan flood, while the No. 14, fighting for victory, had seen lose his hopes following a loss of power. The test of WEC will be run in parallel with that of the United Sportscar Championship where Porsche will also be entered in the GTLM category with two 911 RSRs.
