Aero balance problems for Toyota at Nürburgring

Le Toyota Gazoo Racing harbored hopes of victory in Nurburgring after the pole of the n°7 of Kobayashi-Lopez-Conway while n°8 of Buemi-Nakajima-Davidson experienced a fuel pump problem on the formation lap.

It only took an hour and a half for the No. 7 to downgrade to 3e position. Incapable de suivre les rythme des Porsche, Toyota a connu une défaillance de son système aéro qui a affecté ses capacités en course.

« As the race progressed, a change in aerodynamics affected the performance of both our cars, explains Toyota in a press release. The cause of this change will be analyzed after the race with an in-depth study of the bodywork.."

Finishing 3e and 4e of the 6 Hours of Nürburging, Toyota limits the damage to the championship to 39.5 points from Porsche.

« The Nürbugring once again proved complicated for us, explains Toshio Sato, the president of the team. We showed good speed over one lap and enjoyed the close combat with the Porsches at the start. But the balance of the car changed during the race which meant we lost performance.

“We especially limited the damage to the world championship. We think the rest of the season will be more favorable to us with circuits that better suit our TS050 Hybrid. »
