Prologue 2 – Private LMP1s closer to Toyotas

The second morning of the official tests of the WEC on the Catalunya circuit highlighted the private LMP1s. The Rebellion and the Ginetta were closer than the day before to the TS050 Hybrid, even if the latter remained in the lead in the time rankings.

Mike conway established the best test time with a lap completed in 1'29''623, more than 3 tenths better than the time the day before achieved by his teammate José Maria Lopez. Gustavo Menezes nevertheless managed to place the first Rebellion less than half a second behind, while the second RB13 led by Bruno Senna followed 7 tenths behind. Charlie Robertson hoisted the first Ginetta 1”3 off the benchmark.

In LMP2, it’s Nyck de Vries who signed the best performance by completing a lap of the Spanish track in 1'32''941 at the wheel of the Oreca 07 of Racing Team Nederland. Nicolas lapierre was the closest in the Cool Racing Oreca 07 with a tenth behind, just ahead of the reference time the day before established by Paul di Resta in the United Autosports Oreca 07.

Times have also been improved in GTE Pro. Miguel Molina set a time of 1’43”593 on the Ferrari n°71 of AF Corse for half a tenth ahead of the Porsche n°92 by Kévin Estre. This is 3 tenths better than Michael Christensen's time set the day before in the 911 RSR. Matteo Cairoli set the new GTE Am benchmark with a lap in 1'44''467 in the Team Project 1 Porsche.

The session was interrupted by the Dallara P217 of Cetilar Villorba Corse going off the track.
