The 2025 Prologue of the WEC is now over, it's time for the first assessment after these two days of driving on the Losail circuit, in Qatar! The eight manufacturers and 18 crews entered in Hypercar took advantage of these two days to try out their new machines and fine-tune the settings before the start of the season, for the 1812km of Qatar (February 28).

Most of the fastest times were set on Saturday evening in the fourth and final Free Practice session, a session dominated by the #20 BMW Team WRT. Robin Frijns set the absolute fastest time of this 2025 WEC Prologue with a time of 1:38. This was faster than Matt Campbell's pole position for the 971 km Qatar 1812 (Porsche) in 1'39″347. During this Prologue, several manufacturers showed themselves to their advantage, like Cadillac – which begins its new association with JOTA – and Ferrari, who showed an interesting pace at Losail.

As expected, it is Toyota who completed the most laps on the track. The Japanese manufacturer, reigning world champion, smoothed out the Qatari asphalt with a total of 792 laps completed by the two GR010 Hybrids in two days (i.e. 4260 kilometers covered!). On the manufacturer side, thanks to its third semi-private Hypercar, it was Ferrari who was able to collect the most data thanks to its 1070 laps completed in Losail.

For his first official sessions in WEC, Aston Martin was not ridiculous. The Gaydon firm completed 549 laps with its Valkyrie with very few problems encountered during the two days of the Prologue. The British manufacturer will now have to work on the pace over a lap, since the best Valkyrie is more than two seconds behind the reference set by the BMW n°20. The "bad student" of this Prologue is undoubtedly Proton Competition which completed only 213 laps with its Porsche 963 and which finished last in the cumulative classification, 2″3 behind the best time.
