What future for Joest Racing?

Joest Racing is an integral part of Audi Sport's success in WEC and 24 Hours of Le Mans. The German structure helped the brand with the Rings from its beginnings in 1999 and shared with it the multiple victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and other famous events of theEndurance. The announcement of the withdrawal of the German manufacturer therefore marks the end of an important chapter in the team's history.

“After 18 exciting years alongside Joest Racing, Audi has surprisingly announced its withdrawal from the WEC and Le Mans at the end of the 2016 season. This marks the end of a chapter in this discipline, with no less than 11 victories in the Le Mans, which marked the history of motorsport », indicates the press release from Reinhold Joest’s structure.

“The team will remain focused on the last two races of the Championship. How and where Joest Racing will be involved in motorsport will be communicated at a later date. After completing the short-term WEC project with Audi, the Odenwald racing team is exploring the market and looking for new challenges. Joest Racing would like to thank Audi for its cooperation in recent years and wishes its long-standing partner the best for its racing future. »

Audi will remain involved in motorsport with the Formula e, DTM, and to a lesser extent in World RX with Mattias Ekström EKS team.
