Just before the highly anticipated Hyperpole meeting, Rebellion Racing continued its momentum from the previous night by dominating free practice 4 of the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2020.
It was the R13 n°1 of Gustavo Menezes, author of a time of 3'21"132, which set the benchmark for the session, ahead of the Toyota TS050 Hybrid n°7 by Lopez – Conway - Kobayashi and the second R13 n°3 from Dumas – Delétraz – Berthon at 1″250. The No. 8 Toyota Buemi – Nakajima – Hartley is at 1″393.
It is then the LM P2s which appear in the ranking, since the Enso CLM P1/01 n°4 – ByKolles Racing seems to have encountered new technical problems, after being pushed by the team's mechanics into the pit lane.
The LM P2 category was dominated by United Autosports with the No. 22 Oreca of di Resta – Hanson – Albuquerque, best time in 3’27”185. Followed by G-Drive Racing (Vergne – Rusinov – Jensen) and JOTA Sport with the trio Felix da Costa – Gonzalez – Davidson.
Porsche dominated the GTE Pro since the No. 911 92 RSR of Christensen – Estre – Vanthoor was at the forefront in 3'51"985, and preceded the Ferrari 488 GTE n°71 – AF Corse de Bird – Molina – Rigon, long at the head of the category. The top 3 is completed by the Ferrari 488 GTE n°51 – AF Corse of Pier Guidi – Calado – Serra.
It was also a 911 RSR which dominated the GTE Am with the #56 example from Team Project1 of Cairoli – ten Voorde – Perfetti.
The session was marked by the exit of the #911 Porsche 99 RSR – Dempsey-Proton Racing of Lucas Légeret at the first chicane of the Hunaudières straight and that of Jan Magnussen (Ferrari 488 GTE n°66 – JMW Motorsport) in Mulsanne. A Full Course Yellow for a pin at the Mulsanne exit was also deployed for a while.
The Hyperpole will start at 11:30 a.m.
