Rebellion will continue with one car in 2016

We will no longer see two R-One LM P1s in the World Championship from the Mexico meeting on September 3. The training of Bart Hayden confirmed this Friday that only one prototype will compete in the final rounds of the World Championship.Endurance 2016, with the team already turning towards preparations for the 2017 season.

Only the R-One n°13 of Alexandre Imperatori, Dominik Kraihamer and Matheo Tuscher will therefore be present in the five remaining events, leaving the trio Nicolas Cheers – Nick Heidfeld – Mathias Beche on foot.

“The level of competition in LMP1 is becoming ever higher with the involvement of manufacturers, and in order to improve our own competitiveness in the category, we feel the need to invest more time and resources in updating the Rebellion R-One to get the cars ready for 2017, Hayden explains.

As a small private team with limited resources, we decided to enter one car rather than two in the remaining rounds in WEC and this will allow us to concentrate more efforts in updating the cars for 2017.

Earlier this year at Le Mans, the FIA and ACO announced changes to the LMP1 privateer car regulations for 2017, and we need to understand and translate them onto the track, to be more competitive in the future. » A DRS, movable rear wing system, is one of the tracks mentioned by the FIA and the ACO at Le Mans last June for 2018

Bart Hayden also returned to the choice to withdraw the No. 12 R-One, Prost and Heidfeld being well ahead of the private LM P1 standings. “We decided to continue with the No. 13 because this car is closer in the standings to our ByKolles rivals and this will make the fight for the championship more intense. »
