Meeting: André Lotterer – Happiness is in the aftermath

André Lotterer is an enigma in many ways, even to those who know him closely. He seems to be animated by inexhaustible energy. He is everywhere, all the time, as if incapable of staying still: one day in Tokyo, another in Ingolstadt, Hawaii, Los Angeles? or Nivelles, the small Belgian town where he grew up. And yet. The fair economy of his movements and the calm flow of his words contrast with the hyperactivity that his schedule may suggest. In the hope of finding out more about it, we decided to pay a little visit to the man who seems to have revealed himself to the sporting world through the 24 Hours of Le Mans. His statistics at Sarthoise are astounding: 7th for his first participation in 2009 in an antique Audi R10 TDI operated by a private team (Kolles), 2nd in 2010 for his tenure in the official team with the R15 plus, and finally winner of both latest editions with the R18 TDI and e-tron quattro. Little known in France and almost ignored in Germany, despite his performances and his most interesting atypical career, André Lotterer is an enigma. Definitely.
