Richard Westbrook at JMW

His personal history was until then very linked to Porsche. Winner of the English Carrera Cup in 2004, double champion of the Porsche Supercup 2006 and 2007, official driver of the German brand in 2008 and finally FIA GT2 champion last year aboard a 997 GT3 RSR from the shared Prospeed team with the Frenchman Emmanuel Collard. But at the start of 2010 Richard Westbrook seems to be the author of certain infidelities. After finishing 3rd in the last 24 Hours of Daytona in a BMW-powered Riley, the Briton will compete in the LMS and 24 Hours of Le Mans in the tub of theAston Martin Vantage GT2 entered by the JMW Motorsport team dear to Jim McWirther, double Le Mans Series champion as team boss in 2007 and 2008. Note that at 34 years old, “Westy”, although a beginner at Le Mans, has already participated in an LMS race, the 1000 Monza 2008 km, with a category victory.

His teammate will be his compatriot Rob Bell, the team's favorite driver and double LMS champion, the duo being joined in Sarthe by Tim Sugden, also the team's team manager.

With a team whose skills are no longer to be proven, drivers of the caliber of Rob Bell and Richard Westbrook, and the support of Dunlop, Aston Martin has a very real chance to finally show everyone that its AMV8 can compete fighting at the head of a GT2 category shaping up to be one of the main centers of interest for this new endurance season.
