Keep your feet on the ground. At the dawn of the Lamborghini SC63's competitive debut at the 1812 km of Qatar (March 2), Rouven Mohr refuses to make any predictions or any sensational announcements.

The technical director of the manufacturer from Sant'Agata Bolognese (Italy) is well aware of the challenge awaiting the bull brand, which is lining up for the first time in its history in the premier category of a world championship.

« The first goal will be to learn, confided Mohr during a virtual round table ahead of the opening round of the world championship ofEndurance FIA 2024. We must remain realistic. We are new to the championship. We must keep our feet on the ground. We are not dreamers.

The level of competition is very high in WEC, it is moreover this density of competition which encouraged us to get involved. The ambition in 2024 is to be competitive, I refuse to set precise objectives with positions to achieve. We are in the learning and stabilization phase.

We must keep in mind that the car is not only new but its first run took place in August 2023 and we lost several weeks of work following an unfortunate incident.

We do not lack ambitions but faced with competition that displays such experience compared to us, we must remain measured. »

With a single LMDh Hypercar (the first equipped with a Ligier chassis) lined up in the WEC (a second evolves in IMSA), against at least two among the competition (Cadillac and Isotta excepted), the technical leader Lamborghini finally reminds that the collection of data will be mechanically less intense than with their rivals. Hence a learning curve that is undoubtedly less pronounced.

Mirko Bortolotti, Daniil Kvyat, and Edoardo Mortara, who will share the wheel of the SC63 in WEC, have been warned. They will have their work cut out for them and will have to be patient, especially since the Hypercar program was delayed several weeks, after only a first run last summer.

The start of the 1812 km of Qatar will be given on Saturday March 2 at 11:00 a.m. Losail time (09:00 a.m. in France).
