Sébastien Bourdais will not only ride in IMSA this season. Already entered for the North American championship with the Cadillac DPi of Chip Ganassi Racing, the Frenchman will double his program with the WEC since he joined the Vector Sport adventure where he joined Nico Müller. After the Swiss, Gary Holland, team principal of the British team, definitely likes to surround himself with drivers he has already worked with in the past. “I met Gary Holland when he drove the Risi Competizione car for the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2020, so when he called me I was immediately interested, says Sébastien Bourdais. It will be great to get familiar with the prototypes at Le Mans, and the Vector Sport program complements the Cadillac CGR deal extremely well. I can't wait to start my busy 2022 ahead! »

Le Manceau thus returns to the WEC for the first time since the 2012 season and the LM P1 of Pescarolo Sport. “ It's difficult to know what realistic expectations are because LM P2 is such a large and competitive field, but it's a very exciting prospect, adds the 42-year-old pilot. We are all similar in terms of equipment, I will be alongside very cool guys like my teammates, including Nico, and it will be a great experience to race in the WEC. » Bourdais will not, however, drive at Sebring with Vector Sport since he will already be entered for the IMSA round with CGR which takes place the same weekend. His debut in the World ChampionshipEndurance in 2022 will therefore take place on May 8 at Spa-Francorchamps.

“We are really excited to have Séb join us for our first season, welcomes Gary Holland. His enormous experience in all forms of racing will be a valuable asset to our young time and we would like to thank Cadillac and Chip Ganassi Racing for allowing Séb to work with us throughout this WEC season. » With this double program, the former pilot of Formula 1 in Toro Rosso actually seems to be getting closer to a steering wheel in Cadillac's future LMDh which will be notably linked to Chip Ganassi Racing.
