On a track even more soggy than this morning, Toyota once again signed the best of the second free practice session for the 6 Hours of Shanghai, fifth round of the WEC 2018-2019. But this time it is number 7 of Conway-Kobayashi-Lopez who climbed to the top of the hierarchy thanks to a lap completed in 2'02"959. No. 8 of Alonso-Buemi-Nakajima is at 0”245.
One time in first place, the #13 Rebellion R3-Gibson of Beche-Laurent-Menezes is third at 0”414, just ahead of the #1 of Jani-Lotterer-Senna, which is 0”676 behind the mark reference. The two BR1-AERs from SMP Racing follow, but more than a second behind.
The #37 Oreca of Jackie Chan DC Racing confirms its good form in LM P2, as it once again signs the best performance in 2'10"869. But'Alpine A470 n°36 of Stone-negrao-Thiriet, very discreet this morning, follows closely and is ahead of the Oreca 07 n°28 of TDS Racing by Duval-Perrodo-Vaxivière.
Back this morning, Ferrari took the lead in GTE Pro thanks to the 488 GTE n°51 of Calado-Pier Guidi in 2’14”315. The Italian precedes the #8 BMW M82 GTE of Blmoqvist-Felix da Costa and the two Aston Martin Vantage AMR.
Finally, in GTE Am, it was also a Ferrari which stood out, namely the no. 54 fielded by Spirit of Race for Castellacci-Flohr-Fisichella, which beat another 488 GTE, the no. 61 of the Clearwater Racing.
Tomorrow, the weather should be slightly better for Free Practice 3 and qualifying, which will start at 2:50 a.m. and 7 a.m. French time respectively.
