Signature in training

All the teams know it, it is very complicated to rely on performance for a first at the 24 Hours. This is therefore the case for the Berruyère stable, better known for its good results in Formula 3 Euroseries. “ For us, it was about new testing and work sessions, summarizes Philippe Sinault, team manager of the French team. The rainy conditions during free practice did not allow us to validate our tire strategy. In the end, we completed both sessions with the same set of slick tires. This is an important lesson for us for the race, much more than the lap time. »

Pierre Ragues, 3rd in LMP2 last year, makes the same judgment on the first driving sessions of the week. The Caennais did not seek to set a time, but to prepare the Courage-Oreca for the 24 Hours. “ The objective was to ride in racing conditions. Franck Mailleux started on new tires at the start of the first session with a full tank of fuel, so the goal was not pure performance, especially as he had to discover the track on dry ground. I took over and that's when I achieved the best time in the team, but without really looking for it. » Without looking for a time either this Saturday during the warm-up, Signature Plus brought its No. 12 car to 20th position in the standings. And it is not the last LMP1, ahead of the No. 4 Creation-Judd.
