Simon Pagenaud would like to return to Le Mans “to win”

Before establishing himself on the other side of the Atlantic by winning the title of champion IndyCar in 2016, simon pagenaud had shone in Europe in car, before turning to endurance.

It is already in the United States that the current resident of Team Penske revealed himself in American Le Mans Series. First aligned with De Ferran Motorsports, Pagenaud failed in second position in 2009, before winning the championship the following year in the HighCroft Racing HPD ARX-01C alongside David Brabham.

Present at the 24 Hours of Le Mans since 2008, Simon Pagenaud was recruited by the Team Peugeot for the 2010 edition. If the Frenchman confirms all his talent, he cannot however win the Sarthe event, concluding in particular with a second place in 2011 with the 908 HDi for what still remains today his last participation.

“I would love to do the 24 Hours of Le Mans again, but I want to come back to win, as I had the opportunity with Peugeot, for example, however explains the Team Penske driver on the 24 Hours of Le Mans website.

I am a competitor, I want to fight to win. If I had the opportunity in a good team, if Peugeot came back for example, that would be great and I would then ask Roger Penske for permission. »

Words which echo the little phrase dropped by the Frenchman during his visit to Montmorillon (Vienna) for the celebrations of his IndyCar title : “These 13″ which separated us from victory in 2011, I think about them every morning. »
