SMP Racing completes three days of testing in Portimão

The LM P1 peloton in WEC sera profondément modifié pour la Super-Saison 2018-2019. Après le départ de Porsche, consécutif à celui d’Audi un an auparavant, seule la marque Toyota restera présente avec un prototype hybride.

The novelty will come from the arrival of several private structures, including SMP Racing which will align, with the support of ART Grand Prix, its BR1 in development for several months. The Russian LM P1 completed a new test session at the end of 2017 on the Portuguese circuit of Portimão with Sergey Sirotkin, Vitaly Petrov, Matevos Isaakyan and Egor Orudzhev in action.

Driving sessions alternating short and long stints were carried out, as were night stints for the BR1 powered by the AER unit. « The main task was to cover as many kilometers as possible in “attack” mode, identify potential weaknesses and check the operation of all systems. » comments Vitaly Petrov.

In addition to Toyota Gazoo Racing, SMP Racing will face DragonSpeed, Manor, Rebellion Racing and ByKolles Racing in LM P1 this year
