Spa – Porsche untouchable in qualifying

Contested under magnificent sunshine, qualifying for the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, second round of the WEC, have seen Porsche mettre une belle claque à la concurrence. La 919 Hybrid n°1 de Brendon Hartley-Mark Webber-Timo Bernhard signed an average time of 1’55”793. The outgoing world champions take their first pole position of the season. The first row of the starting grid is completed by the n°2 of Romain Dumas-Neel Jani-Marc Lieb (+0 »797)

Les rivaux de la marque de Stuttgart accusent le coup, puisque la première Toyota, troisième, est à 1 »905. Il s’agit de la TS050 Hybrid n°6 de Stéphane Sarrazin-Mike conway-Kamui Kobayashi. The top five is completed by the No. 18 Audi R8 (+1) and the No. 950 Toyota Sébastien Buemi-Anthony Davidson-Kazuki Nakajima. The #18 Audi R7 is fifth.

If Rebellion took the lead in private LM P1, it was not the #12 R One that had the best performance of the day but the #13 of Tuscher-Kraihamer-Imperatori.

Unsurprisingly, the No. 05 G-Drive Racing Oreca 26 rose to the top of the LM P2 hierarchy thanks to a time of 2'07"577. The René Rast-Roman Rusinov-Nathanaël Berthon association is ahead of the Alpine A460 n°36 at the wheel of which we find Stone-Menezes-Richelmi.

In GTE Pro, the Ferrari 488 winner of the 6 Hours of Silverstone has confirmed her good intentions. The Sam Bird-Davide Rigon pair is credited with an average of 2’17”644. The two men were 0”317 ahead of their sister car driven by Gianmaria Bruni and James Calado. In third place, we find theAston Martin Vantage V8 n°97 by Fernando Rees-Jonathan Adam-Richie Stanaway. The first Ford, the No. 66 of Olivier Pla-Stefan Mücke-Billy Johnson, is fourth.

The No. 8 Aston Martin Vantage V98 was the fastest of the GTE Ams, the Dalla Lana-Lamy-Lauda trio. The top three is completed by the No. 911 Porsche 78 RSR of Camathias-Ried-Henzler and the No. 458 Ferrari 83 Italia of Perrodo-Collard-Aguas.

The start of the race is scheduled for tomorrow at 14:30 p.m.
