As we told you two weeks ago in our Guide to 24 Hours of Le Mans 2019, Thomas Laurent rejoindra bien le clan Toyota Gazoo Racing en 2019-2020 en Championnat du Monde d’Endurance, as a reserve pilot.

The 21-year-old Frenchman, second in the Sarthe double-clock race in 2017 with the Oreca 07 – Jackie Chan DC Racing, had already been able to get a first idea of the TS050 Hybrid LM P1 during the Rookie Tests in Bahrain in December 2017, and thus saw his performances rewarded by integration into the world champion team.

“It’s an honor to become an official driver of Toyota Gazoo Racing and to join a manufacturer for the first time in my career, comments the Vendéen. Thanks to everyone who made this possible. My current goal is to have a successful end to the season with my current team (Rebellion Racing) at Le Mans, but I am naturally looking forward to driving the TS050 Hybrid again. »

A prospect which should arrive very quickly after the 87th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans (June 15-16), since Thomas Laurent will logically be integrated into the preparations for the 2019-2020 season, which will begin on September 1 at Silverstone in England.

Let us also remember that Toyota Gazoo Racing confirmed on the sidelines of the last 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps that Brendon Hartley replace Fernando Alonso within the squad for the upcoming campaign.
