The Japanese team carried out two days of testing at Motorland Aragon (Spain) immediately after the first event. The TS050 Hybrids will be back this weekend at Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium) with the high downforce package used at Silverstone. “Even though the result at Silverstone was quite good, we know we need to perform better if we want to achieve our goals”, admitted Toshio Sato, president of Toyota Gazoo Racing.
Kazuki Nakajima will be back a year after his accident during testing for the 6 Hours of Spa which almost caused him to miss the 24 Hours of Le Mans. “Silverstone was not an easy weekend for different reasons and I think it will be better at Spa”, commented the Japanese pilot. “I'm more excited than ever to race at Spa as I haven't raced here since 2014 due to my accident last year. It's a superb circuit and a driver will always prefer to be behind the wheel rather than behind the TV. »
“The weekend will be busy because we will have to improve the car at all costs for Le Mans”, added Mike Conway, driver of the No. 6 sister car. “We don't have much time and we will use every opportunity to develop our TS050 Hybrid. Even though we lead the Manufacturers' Championship, we know there is still a lot of work to do and I think we will make good progress this weekend. »
