Toyota and Ford on pole at Silverstone

Interrupted by a red flag waved following an exit from the track by Frits van Eerd (Dalla P217 n°29 Racing Team Nederland), qualifying for the 6 Hours of Silverstone, third round of the WEC, were dominated by the Toyota TS050 Hybrid n°7 Conway-Lopez-Kobayashi. Thanks to an average time of 1'36"895 signed by the first two named, the three men took their first pole position of the season, the one signed at Spa having been taken away from them on the green carpet.

Seeming slightly behind since the start of the meeting, the n°8 – led by Alonso and Nakajima this afternoon – completes the first line, with a deficit of 0 »411 on the sister car. In the LM P1 Non-Hybrid clan, SMP Racing takes the advantage over Rebellion Racing. The #1 BR11-AER of Button-Aleshin-Petrov (1'38"932) is third, but is still 2"0 behind the reference mark. The #17 is behind, while the Rebellion are relegated to 2”7 behind the fastest Japanese LM P1, with the advantage going to the #3 of Beche-Menezes-Laurent. DragonSpeed's #1 BR10-Gibson and ByKolles Racing's #1 Enso CLM P01/4 bring up the rear by more than four seconds.

Very lively since yesterday, the Jackie Chan DC Racing confirms by setting the two best times in LM P2. But it was not the No. 38 of Aubry-Tung-Richelmi which was the fastest, but the No. 37 of Jaafar-Tan-Jeffri (1'44 "896). Signatech Alpine is third at 0 seconds, just ahead of the No. 476 Oreca 07 from TDS Racing.

It came close (0 »078) forAston Martin created the sensation in GTE Pro. Credited with a lap in 1”55”805, the #97 Vantage AMR of Maxime Martin-Alex Lynn will finally start second behind the Ford GT of Stefan Mücke-Olivier Pla (1'55"727). The No. 66 confirms the good form of the GTs hit on the blue oval on the British track and the superiority which it has enjoyed since the start of the season compared to its sister car, fourth in this session behind the second Aston Martin. Porsche et Ferrari are at 0”7 and BMW at one second.

In GTE Am, it’s revenge a little surprise that we witnessed, since pole position went to the Porsche of Team Project 1, who debuts in the WEC this season with the Bergmeister-Perfetti-Lindsey trio. The No. 911 56 RSR preceded the No. 77 from Dempsey-Proton Racing and the No. 90 Aston Martin Vantage GTE from TF Sport.
