Toyota Gazoo Racing confirms plans for 2021

The list of cars entered is long. Toyota Gazoo Racing confirmed its plans for the 2021 season on Friday. WRC and WEC, no surprise. The first has already started with four Yaris WRCs lined up for the season entrusted to Sébastien Ogier, Elfyn Evans, Kalle Rovanpera and Takamoto Katsuta.

The WEC will see identical crews to 2021, namely Mike conway, Kamui Kobayashi, Jose Maria Lopez on No. 7 and Sébastien Buemi, Kazuki Nakajima, Brendon Hartley in n°8.

The Japanese manufacturer will also enter six cars in Super GT in the GT 500 category, including one entrusted to the duo Ryo Hirakawa and Sacha Fenestraz, as well as seven cars in GT 300.

Above all, Toyota unveiled its customer competition programs, via the Toyota GR Supra GT4, which will celebrate its second year of existence. In 2020, a total of five vehicles operated by three teams in Europe including the French structure CMR took part in various races in the GT4 category.

In 2021, two new vehicles are added so far. Therefore, in addition to at least seven units competing in races in Europe, there are seven cars in Japan and at least five in North America. In Europe, CMR will continue in FFSAGT as well as in GT4 Europe.

We will also find cars at the Nürburgring Endurance shows, DTM Trophy or British GT Championship. On the other hand, the plan to officially enter GT4s at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring, already canceled in 2020, will once again not be able to take place, due to restrictions linked to the health crisis.

Finally, the list of commitments confirms that no Lexus RCF GT3 will be present in Europe with the support of the manufacturer, and only two will be present in the United States via the Vasser Sullivan in IMSA.
