Toyota: Lopez changes crew for Le Mans

Toyota Gazoo Racing will modify some of its crews for the 24 Hours of Le Mans (June 17-18). José Maria Lopez, injured at Silverstone and withdrawn from Spa, will be entered in the No. 050 TS9 Hybrid on the Le Mans double clock, replacing Stéphane Sarrazin. The Frenchman will ride on the No. 7 alongside Mike conway et Kamui Kobayashi while the three-time world champion will drive alongside Nicolas lapierre and Yuji Kunimoto.

“Circumstances have changed in recent weeks with José Maria's injury, argues Toshio Sato, president of Toyota Gazoo Racing. Il is in a delicate position having covered very few laps this year in WEC and we all felt it was appropriate to change the crew. »

“I am certain that Stéphane will adapt well to the crew of the No. 7 and that they will be able to play for victory, continues Toshio Sato. José Maria, like Yuji, will learn a lot at Le Mans this year, familiarizing himself with the circuit and the event as a whole and this is an important step for the future. »

José Maria Lopez will return to the wheel of the No. 7 Toyota for the remaining WEC events. The crew of No. 8 will remain unchanged with Sébastien Buemi, Anthony Davidson and Kazuki Nakajima.
