The GR10s of Conway – Kobayashi – Lopez and Buemi – Hartley – Nakajima dominated the first free practice session for the 6 Hours of Monza.

Toyota sees double in EL1 at Monza

On the Milan Autodrome, where a few drops of rain appeared at the end of the session, the Toyota GR010 were right on target for the first on-track confrontation of the weekend of 6 Hours of Monza.

No. 7 of Mike conway - Kamui Kobayashi – José Maria Lopez set the best time in the session, with the reference lap for the Argentinian in 1'38″401.

The GR010 n°8 of Sébastien Buemi, Brendon Hartley et Kazuki Nakajima, fails at 0″134, and takes in its wake theAlpine 480 n°36 – Signatech Alpine de Nicolas lapierre - Andre Negro – Matthieu Vaxivière, clocked at 0″152.

The two Glickenhaus 007s of Richard Westbrook – Romain Dumas – Franck Mailleux and Olivier Pla – Pipo Derani – Gustavo Menezes complete the quintet of Hypercars six tenths behind the leading Toyota, the two French drivers having shown themselves the fastest in the American Hypercar.

In LM P2, United Autosports largely dominated the session with the No. 07 Oreca 22 of Fabio Scherer – Phil Hanson – Filipe Albuquerque, almost half a second at the front of the category ahead of Racing Team Nederland and the Oreca 07. n°29 led by Frits van Eerd, Nyck de Vries, replacing Job van Uitert, positive for Covid-19, and Paul-Loup Chatin, who came to replace Giedo van der Garde, also positive.

Juan Pablo Montoya, supported by Ben Hanley and Henrik Hedman on the No. 07 Oreca 21 – DragonSpeed, finished in third position.

At home, the Ferrari fired first in GTE Pro, with the #488 52 GTE Evo of Miguel Molina and Daniel Serra, best time in 1'46"560 (to the Brazilian's credit), a little less than three tenths ahead of the car- sister of James Calado and Alessandro Pier Guidi. The two follow Porsche 911 RSR n°92 of Kévin Estre and Neel Jani and n°91 of Gianmaria Bruni and Richard Lietz.

For a long time the Prancing Horse held the rope in GTE Am, since three 488 GTE Evos monopolized the forefront in the category a few minutes from the end, but it was finally the Porsche 911 RSR n°56 – Team Project1 of Ricardo Pera – Matteo Cairoli – Egidio Perfetti who finished the session with the best time in 1'47″194. Followed by the Ferrari 488 GTE Evo n°54 – AF Corse of Giancarlo Fisichella – Thomas Flohr – Francesco Castellacci, and n°60 – Iron Lynx of Claudio Schiavone – Andrea Piccini – Matteo Cressoni, classified less than three tenths behind.

The session was neutralized by a red flag following the #488 Ferrari 47 GTE Evo – Cetilar of Roberto Lacorte leaving the track after just over half an hour of driving. The session was also extended beyond 90 minutes following this incident.

Free practice 2 will begin tomorrow at 9:30 a.m., before EL3 scheduled for 14 p.m. Qualifying is expected at 18 p.m. on the other side of the Alps.
