A double podium for Porsche in Bahrain

Once again in pole position for the 6h of Bahrain on Saturday, Porsche managed to place its two LM P1-H prototypes on the podium in Sakhir this time. On a circuit where the Germans had accumulated the kilometers of running in preparatory tests before their big comeback this season, the trios Jani-Dumas-Lieb and Webber-Bernhard-Hartley remained threatening for the Toyota TS040 Hybrid n°8 from Sarrazin-Wurz-Conway victorious, and also benefited from the setbacks of the new champions Sébastien Buemi and Anthony Davidson on the TS040 n°7.

“It’s quite incredible that after taking our third pole of the season, we were still able to progress, explains Fritz Enzinger, LM P1 vice-president of Porsche. The most important thing is that we managed to increase our pace in the race and got closer to the fastest cars. » If the No. 14 finished second, the double relay attempt at the end of the race for Mark Webber did not prove conclusive.

“This result is a new step taken,
nevertheless noted the Australian. The conditions were not easy for the cars. We didn't have the same pace as the No. 14, but we learn with each race. »
