A van der Garde – Giovinazzi – Gelael trio at ESM

For the 2016 season, the team Tequila Patrón ESM, in addition to its commitments IMSA at Daytona and Sebring in Florida (with two victories) and Watkins Glen (New York), had oriented its program towards the LM P2 category of WEC with two Ligier JS P2s.

The crew of the No. 31 Derani – Cumming – Dalziel managed to secure a P2 podium four times, and will be accompanied on the second No. 30 prototype by a new trio starting in Fuji, Japan on October 16, as we tell you in AUTO issue 2081hebdo, available from this Tuesday at 10 a.m. in digital version, and from this Wednesday on newsstands.

Ed Brown and Scott Sharp, associated with Johannes van Overbeek, will give way to Giedo van der Garde, Antonio Giovinazzi and Sean Gelael. The first mentioned, former Caterham driver in F1, is competing for the championship this season ELMS within G-Drive Racing (2nd overall before Spa this weekend).

Giovinazzi, currently second in the GP2 Series behind his French Prema Racing teammate Pierre Gasly, tasted endurance in Asian Le Mans Series earlier in the year, as well as during the opening of the ELMS at Silverstone in an SMP Racing BR01, already alongside Sean Gelael.

The Indonesian driver, also present in GP2 this season, will bring with him on the car the title sponsor Jagonya Ayam, who supports him in his career.
