A warm-up marked by track exits

The warm-up of the 84th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans did not allow the drivers to string together laps despite dry conditions. The practice session was marked by several track exits, two of which caused a red flag.

The first interruption occurred following the accident of Paul Loup Chatin who hit the rail at the bends Porsche on the Ligier JS P2 n°23 of the Panis Barthez Compétition. The Frenchman was unable to restart after ending up in the gravel trap, but the damage to the car appeared to be minor.

The damage could be more serious on theAlpine No. 35. David Cheng was trapped entering Indianapolis by driving over a curb still full of water. The Chinese went out at high speed and hit the tire wall sideways, causing the session to end.

André Lotterer set the best time of the session with a time of 3'25''886 achieved in the No. 18 Audi R7. It was the German LMP1 which was the most diligent with seven laps completed. There Toyota TS050 Hybrid Kobayashi-Sarrazin-Conway follows 1”3 ahead of the Porsche 919 Hybrid of Lieb-Dumas-Jani. The Audi No. 8 of Duval-Jarvis-Di Grassi is in fourth place ahead of the No. 5 Toyota Buemi-Davidson-Nakajima.

The No. 05 Oreca 26 of René Rast's G-Drive Racing was once again the fastest of the LMP2s with a time of 3'40''724 followed by the Ligier of Michael Shank Racing with Laurens Vanthoor.

Dirk Muller was responsible for putting the No. 68 Ford GT at the top of the GTE Pro with a lap time of 3'57''397. Patrick Long was the fastest in GTE Am with a time of 4:00 in the #162 Abu Dhabi-Proton 911 RSR.

The start of the 84th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans will be given at 15 p.m. The race will be followed live with our live text.
