A new historic Endurance series

Masters Le Mans Legend will be a new series in which prototypes and GTs from 1995 to 2011 will return to competition. This new discipline, launched by Masters Historic Racing, will officially begin in 2018 with a calendar of up to 6 races.

The Le Mans Legends Masters will bring together racing cars from the International Sports Racing Series, the FIA Sports Car Championship,ELMS, the American Le Mans Series, the ILMC (ancestor of the WEC) and Le Mans Endurance Series. Eligible categories will include SR1 and SR2, LMP1 and LMP2 or GT1 and GT2.

The series will be divided into three classes with cars from years 1995 to 1999, years 2000 to 2005 and 2006 to 2011. Each class will be divided into 4 categories with LMP1, LMP2, GT1 and GT2.

The meetings will be held on European circuits adapted to the speeds of the cars and having the necessary infrastructure for safety. Two 30-minute qualifying sessions will precede a 45-minute race. Stops will be compulsory during the race and penalties will be applied to professional drivers in order to balance the field.

Nicolas Minassian responsible for the series

Nicolas Minassian, Dragonspeed's new sporting director, will serve as series manager.

“I am delighted to work with Masters Historic Racing on this new project, commented Nicolas Minassian. It features superb cars that made the hearts of spectators and drivers beat faster. These cars are still new and they are still well anchored in people's minds. This is the ultimate category of historic racing and I believe in the immense potential of this series with so many cars made by major manufacturers and racing cars produced on a small scale. I hope I can also find myself a steering wheel. »

The Le Mans Legends Masters will begin with a race held alongside the 6 Hours of Spa on the weekend of September 17.
