A fourth 908 at Le Mans

A surprising announcement to say the least when we remember Henri Pescarolo?s criticisms against the technical advantage granted to diesel prototypes in recent years. The charismatic boss of the “greens” explains:

“Some time ago, just before the closing of entries for the 24 Hours, I had the surprise and great honor of being offered by Olivier Quesnel a request for entry for a fourth Peugeot 908 in the name of Pescarolo Sport! Having one of these very beautiful and high-performance machines in my stable and being so close to a major manufacturer were two things that I could not refuse. With this 908, Le Mans will definitely be a tasty and exciting experience for Pescarolo Sport. »

The 908 supplied to the Pescarolo Sport team is in reality a 2008 model not having the engine upgrades made this year, but obviously the 2009 aero modifications as well as air conditioning. It will be delivered next May and will make its first rounds during the Magny-Cours tests, just a fortnight before the 24 Hours of Le Mans event.

“There are at least five manufacturers who have the same objective for the next 24 Hours, namely victory. The field has never been so well stocked, which means that this year's edition will not only be competitive, it will be magnificent. », declared Olivier Quesnel, Director of Peugeot Sport.

“With Audi having entered five cars, our objective was to be able to respond to this veritable armada. Henri Pescarolo being at the genesis of the history of the 908, I naturally turned to him. », he closed, to justify the last minute registration.

Despite the fact that the team now has a formidable weapon to be able to fight at the front, Pescarolo Sport has not forgotten the great ambitions it has placed in its “in-house” LMP1 prototype for the next season. . Indeed, thanks to the development made to its 2009 Pescarolo-Judd evolution, the Sarthe team will try, both in LMS and at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, to maintain its position as the best gasoline car.
