The Albuquerque-Hanson-Di Resta trio is coming to an end, at least in WEC. Next year, the first two will not be supported by the former Force India driver in Formula 1 but by Fabio Scherer, present this year in DTM.
This Friday, United Autosport confirmed the entry of the 21-year-old Swiss driver for the full season of the World Endurance Championship next year. “I am very excited to be part of the United Autosports team in 2021. Partnering with the reigning champions and winners of the 24 Hours of Le Mans Phil Hanson and Filipe Albuquerque is a great opportunity for me and a step forward in my career,” says Fabio Scherer.
United Autosports won the last 24 Hours of Le Mans in LMP2 thanks to the trio Albuquerque-Hanson-Di Resta at the wheel of the No. 07 Oreca 22. In 2021, the British team wants to repeat the feat and is counting on Fabio Scherer to achieve it.
No news has been given regarding Paul Di Resta's future with the team. United Autosports could still enter a second Oreca 07 next year. To be continued…
