After getting on the podium at Monza in the LMP2 category last July, the British team announces a change in its crew, in the run-up to the 6 Hours of Fuji, scheduled for September 11. Engaged in DTM during this same weekend, the German driver, Nico Müller, will be replaced by Renger van der Zande, at Vector Sport, for the fifth round of the World Endurance Championships (WEC).

The van der Zande-Bourdais association already well established

If the experienced 36-year-old Dutch driver is an ideal replacement, it is in particular thanks to his knowledge of the WEC and LMP1 and LMP2. van der Zande was also chosen for his past campaigns alongside Sébastien Bourdais, one of two other Vector Sport drivers, during their joint campaign in IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship with Cadillac Racing. They will team up with Irish driver Ryan Cullen at Fuji Speedway (Japan).

“I'm really looking forward to racing at Fuji Speedway, a circuit where I tested in Super Formula but where I never had the chance to race due to the pandemic in recent years, relates Renger van der Zande. I have very good memories of it and I can't wait to be in Japan with Vector Sport.

Working with Seb [Bourdais] this year we have developed a very good partnership. He's very diligent about the settings and I'm a little more direct, let's say, so I hope it will be easy to integrate the Vector LMP2. The Oreca is an experienced car, the best LMP2 out there, and I find it very pleasant and easy to handle. Seb and I agree on how we like the settings, and I've heard that Ryan [Cullen] thinks the same, so I'm impatient. »
