Vitaly Petrov is the latest driver confirmed by Manor TRS Racing for the 2017 season of WEC. The Russian, who made his debut in the World Endurance Championship last year in a BR01 entered by SMP Racing, will now drive the Oreca 07, the only chassis present in the LMP2 field.
“I would like to thank SMP Racing for its program and especially Boris Rotenberg (the president of the Russian structure) for his support, said the former pilot Renault F1 and Caterham. I also thank my fans who were impatiently awaiting my participation in a championship. »
“We are very happy to welcome Vitaly to our team, added Graeme Lowdon, president and sporting director of Manor TRS Racing. Another great talent joins our crew. Vitaly is experienced in WEC and 24 Hours of Le Mans. We have known Vitaly since his F1 days. He is a very competitive driver. »
If Manor TRS Racing has not yet confirmed its crews, Vitaly Petrov should compete with Simon Trummer and Roberto Gonzalez, while the second Oreca 07 should be entrusted to Jean-Éric Vergne, Tor Graves and Jonathan Hirschi.
