WEC 2014 – A calendar identical to 2013

We take the same and start again. The 2014 World Championship seasonEndurance will be structured around eight rounds, and will go through the same circuits as in 2013. It will even go there in the same order. The only new thing is the holding of an official test session on March 28 and 29, on the Paul-Ricard circuit. A session in which all competitors with at least one car will be required to participate. “This 2014 calendar is a further step in the desire to consolidate the FIA brand WEC in the countries we visited this year, underlines Gérard Neveu, general director of the FIA WEC. Apart from the race of 24 Hours of Le Mans, whose notoriety is no longer in doubt, it is important to stabilize the seven other events of the season, and to set annual meetings in order to offer spectators from all over the world opportunities to discover the Spirit of Le Mans in their country. This calendar also provides our teams, our sponsors and our partners with assurance that allows us to continue our growth on the bases and foundations that we have put in place together over the last two seasons. »

Note that the Belgian, Chinese and Bahraini rounds will be held on Saturday, and that the latter will be brought forward by two weeks compared to this year, where it is scheduled for November 30. « 2014 promet d’être une saison très intéressante, avec le lancement des nouveaux règlements LMP1 et l’arrivée de Porsche dans la catégorie, qui va offrir un nouveau challenge aux constructeurs Audi et Toyota, continues Pierre Fillon, President of the Automobile Club de l’Ouest. The championship continues to grow and we also expect more entries in LMP2 and LMGTE. I am very satisfied with this program which reflects the stability of a solid championship. This is true for the stables, but also for our partners in an economically difficult period. »

In addition to the eight rounds on the program, an official test session will therefore be organized over two days, March 28 and 29. As a reminder, the test day for the 24 Hours is set for June 1st.
