WEC – 6 a.m. Shanghai: Porsche remains undefeated in qualifying

The conquest of the Manufacturers’ title is going well for Porsche who once again monopolized the first row of the grid at the 6 Hours of Shanghai (China). The 919 Hybrids remain undefeated in this exercise since the start of the season. Brendon Harley and Mark Webber were fastest in the #17 at the top of the Championship. The New Zealander even achieved the new lap record on the Chinese track long of 5,451 with a time of 1’42”621.

“Qualifying was perfect for Mark and I and everything went according to our expectations”, said Brendon Hartley. “I made a mistake in the first corner, but we both managed very good times. This was very important because we didn't have a second chance with the tires due to the abrasiveness of the track. The team managed to improve the car's performance by four seconds compared to last year. »

The crew of Porsche No. 17 will be able to count on help from sister car #18 of Dumas-Lieb-Jani in its conquest of the Drivers' title, after the Stuttgart brand chose to carry out instructions at the 6 Hours of Fuji (Japan) on October 11. “Qualifying is a bit of an endurance show and rain threatens for the race”, nevertheless recalled Mark Webber.
