WEC – It will be the 1500 miles of Sebring!

From next year, the season of WEC will be disputed over two calendar years. One of the other big news from this calendar reversal concerns the American round, which will be held in March 2019 on the Sebring track, in Florida, alongside the 12 Hours of Sebring, second round of theIMSA SportsCar Championship.

If Gérard Neveu, director of the WEC, told us last Friday that the name of the event had not yet been found, it would seem that the “problem” is now resolved. As planned, the start will be given on the night of Saturday to Sunday, at midnight exactly, two hours after the arrival of the double Florida clock, time to make the necessary modifications around the track.

We will therefore have to talk about the 1500 miles of Sebring. It's a safe bet that very quickly, the Americans will call it Sebring 1500, like the Indy 500, aka the Indianapolis 500. It will therefore be an event of 1500 miles (or 2414 km) or a maximum of 12 hours depending on the racing events and the interventions of the safety car.
