WEC-EL1: Audi dances in the Austin rain

Audi set the best times at the end of the first free practice session for the 6 Hours of Austin. The R18 n°2 set the benchmark time in the rain with Loïc Duval.

Best time in the two collective testing sessions yesterday, Audi confirmed today on a wet track. The best time is once again to the credit of the R18 e-tron quattro n°2 of Loïc duval-Tom Kristensen-Allan McNish. En bouclant un tour en 2’03 »749, le premier nommé a devancé de 0 »707 la voiture sœur du trio Benoît Tréluyer-Marcel Fässler-André Lotterer. Le tiercé de tête est complété par la Toyota TS030 Hybrid confiée à Sébastien Buemi, Stéphane Sarrazin and Anthony Davidson, which follows at 2”717. Follows at 3”984 the Lola-Toyota Rebellion Racing n°12 of Nicolas Cheers, Mathias Beche and Nick Heidfeld.

Equipped with Michelin tires, the Oreca 03-Nissan of PeCom Racing of Nicolas Minassian-Pierre Kaffer-Luis Perez Companc distinguished itself in LM P2 thanks to a lap completed in 2’12”072.

Porsche a pris les devants en GTE Pro grâce à la 911 RSR n°92 de Richard Lietz et Marc Lieb, qui a parcouru les 5,513 km du Circuit des Amériques en 2’17 »164. En GTE Am, c’est l’Aston Martin Vantage n°95 of Christoffer Nygaard, Kristian Poulsen and Nicki Thiim which stood out thanks to a best lap in 2'18"022.

The second free practice session will be held at 22:25 p.m. French time. According to the weather forecast, the track should once again be abundantly watered.
