WEC-EL1: Audi and Toyota follow each other in the rain at Spa

The Spa-Francorchamps circuit welcomed the paddock of WEC under a beautiful deluge which complicated the work of the teams. After leaving Toyota in control for a good part of the session, Audi responded with Loïc duval who signed a lap in 2'15"143 in the final moments. The No. 040 TS7 of Sarrazin-Wurz-Nakajima is two tenths ahead of the No. 8 of Stone-Buemi-Davidson. The second R18 driven by Tréulyer-Fässler-Lotterer follows by more than a second, preceding the Porsche 919 Hybrid of Dumas-Jani-Lieb and Webber-Bernhard-Hartley which are almost two seconds behind the reference time.

As for the new Rebellion R-Ones, the LMP1s from the Swiss team were rather discreet since the No. 12 from Heidfeld-Cheers-Beche only finished tenth while the sister car of Belicchi-Kraihamer-Leimer only completed three laps. SMP Racing leads the LMP2 category with its two Oreca 03-Nissans. The n°27 of Zlobin-Minassian-Mediani finished with a time of 2'25"960 ahead of the n°37 of Ladygin-Shaitar-Ladygin.

Prospeed Competition had the luxury of setting the best GT time with the Porsche 911 GT3 RSR of Perrodo-Vaxivière-Collard registered in GTE Am. With a lap completed in 2'34"281, the n°75 was ahead of 'a handful of tenths Ferrari n°51 AF Corse by Gianmaria Bruni and Toni Vilander.
