WEC – ESM will enter with 2 LMP2s in 2015

After making promising debuts at world level in Austin (Texas) and Shanghai (China), Extreme Speed Motorsports has confirmed the entry of two LMP2 cars for the next season of the WEC and 24 Hours of Le Mans. Seventh in the USC Teams Championship, the Florida team has decided to take a new step by enriching the minor prototype category. Extreme Speed Motorsports has already confirmed Ed Brown, director of The Patron Spirits Company, Scott Scharp (the team owner), Ryan Dalziel and Johannes van Overbeek. Secondary drivers will be announced at a later date.

“Shanghai has been an incredible experience for ESM”, recognized Scott Sharp, who set up his structure in 2010. “This not only allowed the team to make its first trip outside the American continent but also to expose its partner Tequila Patron who wants to expand internationally. This is a boon for our program. We were impressed by the WEC and its positioning. »

This is very good news for the FIA and the ACO who have seen the presence of LMP2s greatly reduced this year. ESM will retain the colors of its main partner Tequila Patron but will exchange the HPD ARX-03b for the new ARX-04b coupes with a roof. “ESM quickly showed that it was competitive against the rest of the field by taking two category podiums. This announcement is a big step forward for the LMP2 grid and for the WEC as a whole,” underlined Gérard Neveu, director of the WEC.
