WEC – ESM in Shanghai with Le Mans in sight

Extreme Speed Motorsports intends to strengthen its presence on the global endurance scene. The Florida team is competing in the two events of the WEC and USC which are taking place this weekend in Austin (Texas) and it is in the paddock of the Circuit of the Americas that the American structure has decided to announce its presence at the 6 Hours of Shanghai (China) on November 2 with its two HPD ARX-03b. “This is an incredible opportunity for ESM to compete against the best LMP2 cars in the world”, commented boss-pilot Scott Sharp.

The #30 will be driven by Scott Sharp, Ryan Dalziel and Ricardo Gonzalez while the #31 car will be in the hands of Ed Brown, Johannes van Overbeek and David Brabham. “We welcome David and Ricardo with joy. Both rode in Shanghai and we will use their experiences to best prepare the Honda prototypes for the six-hour race. We continue to learn in WEC and we believe the presence of both cars is necessary in China. »

On the other hand, the preparation of the second LMP2 adapted to the USC regulations will force Extreme Speed Motorsports to skip the Petit Le Mans final contested on October 4 at Road Atlanta (Georgia). But the Florida team wants to train at the best level in order to achieve the goal of aligning with 24 Hours of Le Mans “This weekend is a good test for us,” added Ed Brown who is participating in the two endurance events in Austin. “We want to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans next year. I think it's important for us to take part in the toughest race the team can do and that involves going to China to face new challenges like language, food or logistical issues. If we want to be competitive at Le Mans or in a WEC event, we need to get to grips with a specific discipline and regulations. »
