WEC – H1: The #14 Porsche remains in the lead at Spa

La Porsche No. 14 driven by Neel Jani retained the advantage of its pole at the end of the first hour and is thus leading the race at Spa-Francorchamps where the sky remains clear. However, the results are mixed for the Stuttgart manufacturer since the No. 20 of Timo Bernhard lost a lap after returning to the pits following a mechanical problem. Despite Audi's aggressive strategy, which was content to refuel its R18s during the first stop, the Toyota n°8 took second place while Sébastien Buemi succeeded to Nicolas lapierre. The TS040 n°7 now driven by Kazuki Nakajima in place of Stéphane Sarrazin also takes over the Audi of Loïc duval and André Lotterer.

Oliver Pla leads the LMP2 class in his G-Drive Racing Morgan-Nissan while Nicolas Minassian received a penalty in the No. 03 SMP Racing Oreca 27. The first Rebellion R-One, the No. 12 driven by Nick Heidfeld, is behind the second category of prototypes in 12th position.

AF Corse is fighting with Aston Martin for the lead of the GTE Pro. After leading the first hour of the race, Gianmaria Bruni gave way to Toni Vilander on the Ferrari n°51 which started from pole and which is currently just behind the Aston Martins of Stefan Mücke and Fernando Rees who are doubling his stints. GTE Am is also led by a Vantage V8 with the #95 currently driven by Richie Stanaway.
